Where Earth touches the Sky.... Mountains of Ladakh.

Powerful, supreme, mighty mountains
stubborn and strong,
You stand so grounded, that you touch the sky.
I cannot see your highest point,
lost in the endless patterns upon you,
as though a hundred children
have scratched stories into your walls.

I saw a branching tree,
a peacock feather,
people dancing,
ancient alphabets,
chocolates and , oh! so many kinds
was it your children,
or simply my wandering mind?
And then, as if in answer,
you showed me a heart.

Your rugged, naked, raw texture
feels shaped by every weather
of forgotten eras.
Nothing seems able to move you now
until one day your heart opens to the clouds,
covering you like a blanket,
while snow freezes and tickles your skin.

Do you look down at the river
and long to touch her?
Is that why you crumble a little
before her soft, fragile, flowing nature?
And perhaps sometimes
she slips through your deepest crevices
and manifests your hidden desires.

And I see both strength and vulnerability existing together just like us humans
And when you look at us
do you feel wonder too...?

This poem continues the journey from the previous blog and is part of an ongoing series along with my journey.
Through the eyes of a childlike heart, full of wonder and curiosity, I find myself asking the mountains a few simple questions, inviting both admiration and contemplation ).

Thank you.
